If you have watched American Idol every Tuesday and Wednesday night, perhaps you thought you had what it takes to be a pop icon like the contestants that compete on the show. Well, you may have what it takes, but whether you have the talent or not, at least you can smell like an American Idol.

The popular show that has become a franchise in its own right now has its own line of fragrances for men and women and American Idol Kimberly Caldwell, the rocker that caught everyone's eye, despite not winning the competition, is still the popular show's choice to hawk the new product to the masses.

"I have been traveling all over America to the different JCPenney department stores, promoting the new fragrances, Idol Spirit for Men and Idol Moments for Women," said Caldwell. "It gives people the opportunity to take home a piece of the show. The fans are the biggest part of the show's success, so this gives them something to enjoy from the show and it allows me the opportunity to interact with everyone and have a good time."

Caldwell has been riding a wave of success since the second season of the show ended last year. According to the star, she has been really busy; "good busy," as she puts it. Caldwell is a correspondent television host on TV Guide magazine where she recently hosted a special entitled American Idol: Where Are They Now? She has been an American Idol correspondent for Fox News Live and she is also gearing up for a release of her first CD, a rock-n-roll album under the auspicious of Dianne Warren and Randy Jackson. She came to The Bronx, in New York City, my hometown, and discussed the fragrance and the show that put her name on the map.

"The show changed my life," she said. "I would probably still be sitting in Texas with a job that I was probably going to quit anyway. I've never been good at the 9 to 5. I am so glad for American Idol and I am honored to have been a part of that show. I am realizing a dream to record an album and it is weird to be this girl that people want an autograph of. I remember eating at a restaurant and there were paparazzi outside taking pictures and I was wondering who they were taking pictures of. I looked online later and found out they were taking pictures of me. It still amazes me and I owe it to the fans."

Caldwell discusses what made the show such a hit. "Performing on live television, gaining professional studio experience, working with the judges and celebrity guests…it's a fantastic experience that I'll never forget," she said. "Most importantly, the people, especially the other contestants, have become a huge part of my life, and I am sure we'll be friends for a long, long time."

The star states that there is an attitude that comes with being an American Idol. "You definitely need confidence and a sense of self," she said. "I grew tremendously from being on the show. I was given the encouragement to be confident in my own voice and style. You have to believe that you have something unique to offer the world, and find and be true to what makes you special."

The attitude of an American Idol is part of what makes the scent of an American Idol. "The fragrance is a great way to make a personal statement," she said. "An American Idolneeds to exude confidence, charisma, inner strength and charm. They capture the essence of an Idol in a fragrance that anyone can own."

The scents were actually chosen by the fans that were standing in line to try out for the competition this season. The two scents with the most votes were chosen to represent the men and women, respectively. Idol Spirit for Men will be featured as spray cologne ranging in price from $8 to $24.50 along with an aftershave for $17.50 and a deodorant spray for $6. There will even be a He's My Idol Collection for $35, which will feature a 1.7 oz. of cologne, the deodorant spray and a 1.7 oz. after-shave. Idol Moments for Women will feature similar products designed for women. The perfume will range in price from $8 to $24.50 depending on one of three sizes (0.5 oz, 1.7 oz. and 3.4 oz). There will be an 8 oz. body spray for $8 and an 8 oz. body lotion for $8. The She's My Idol Collection for $35, will include the 3.4 oz. perfume, the body spray and the body lotion.

Caldwell unveiled the scent, met with fans and held a karaoke competition to see if some of the fans had what it takes to be the next American Idol. The Idol loved her stay in New York. "Every time I go anywhere in New York, I have to be forced back on the plane," she said. "I don't want to leave. There are really cool people there who are honest and down the Earth. The party scene is great, too. It was great to see everyone. I loved seeing the people, talking to all the fans and having a good time."
