Kimberly: It was actually my 21st birthday when I found out I was going to be on the Wildcard show. I was packed into a car with my friends and we were headed downtown to go out to celebrate and my phone rings and it was American Idol. And they said I was coming back for the wild card. And I said, 'Huh?' (laughs) And they were like, 'Yep.' And so we made a u-turn, went back home, I packed up all my stuff and I was in LA the next morning. And it was just another week of unbelievable fun and excitement and nervousness.

Kimberly: I really, I couldn't breathe. I really couldn't breathe. I thought I was actually going to collapse on the stage when they said -- and Randy had called my name. And I thought he was talking about somebody else when he was explaining who he had picked. He was like, 'Well, this person did this and that...' And I didn't even know he was talking about me. And you should see my face on the tape. I've only got to see it very briefly. I watched it and I was like, 'Oh my Lord, that is so funny.' My face was just like (makes a surprised face) 'Excuse me? Like did you say the wrong name or something?' So I got up there and my knees started just shaking and I dropped down to the ground. I finally picked myself back up and I was like, 'Ooookay. Let's try singing this again.' And so I'm here. And I'm just going to try my best.

Kimberly: It's kind of hard sometimes to keep your confidence at a maximum. Because, you know, people do have some negative things to say sometimes. You just kind of have to blow those off and focus on the positive things. But the hardest thing for me, personally, is being away from my family. Because I'm very, very close with my little sister, Kristy, and my mom. They, um, I live with them in a little apartment in Katy, right outside of Houston. And I've been with them every single day since I can remember.

Kimberly: I mean, it's very humbling, too. Knowing that at one time, you can walk through anywhere and nobody knows you and then a week later, you walk through places and people are screaming your name. It's very outrageous. We'll put it that way. And it's kind of weird because I'm like, I'm really not cool. Why do you want my autograph? I'm not cool. But they seem to think we are. (laughs)
